GrownRANGE© - Big Indoor Plants FAQ’s

What is Nursery 2U’s GrownRANGE©?

The GrownRANGE© is a collection of plants grown to the full allowable postal size and potted in the minimum required pot size for a plant that large to grown in, so that is can also be posted in the pot.

What are the dimensions of the GrownRANGE©?

Most plants are in 140mm deep pots 180mm equivalent (with exceptions)

80cm totems (with exceptions)

Some plants require various pot or totem sizes, which are noted in the listings.

Some plants that are potted in 180mm pots, have the soil removed, but are sent with the pot so you can pot them up again, a potted 180mm or 200mm plant goes above the Australia post allowable weight.

How will I know how to take care of my plant from the GrownRANGE©?

Each GrownRANGE© plant comes with its own individual plant care sheet.

What about removing the coir pole to use a sphagnum pole?

We don’t recommend removing this pole immediately. We recommend slowly transitioning this pole by packing sphagnum moss around the aerial roots.

Our customers have had mixed results when removing the pole.

Pole extensions are available.

Please note: Some plant varieties are clumping and not climbing, these varieties just use the pole for support and are easier to remove from the pole, please ask questions before removing the pole, there is nothing urgent needed from you (including removing the pole) once you receive your plant.

When should I repot, and why does my pot topple sometimes?

The pots used may topple, in the nursery they are grown on special potholders, we recommend a heavy cover pot until repotting (which is mentioned on your care sheet)

Can I cut up my GrownRANGE© plant?

Yes of course, it is beyond our scope to offer info on cutting up these plants, but once the plant is yours, you can “propagate or appreciate”

Why do you leave dying or damaged leave on GrownRANGE© plants?

Some plant leaves may be up to 3 years old, and plants this size that have many leaves will have a mixture of new and old leaves. We leave all the leaves on because when you position your plant, some leaves may look better if they stay on the plant, for example they may be back facing where the damage is not obvious, and the plant looks better if they stay on there.

Is GrownRANGE© good for beginners?

This range may be perfect for beginners if you are prepared to follow instructions and ask questions, if you like to experiment with plant care, and you follow social media advice, you may end up killing this plant and any others you buy.

Why should I buy a GrownRANGE© Plant?

If you live any a southern part of Australia, you may not have a long enough summer to ever get a plant to reach this amount of growth before it has to slow down for cooler temps, GrownRANGE© plants give you a head start in having a big plant that you can appreciate and learn how to grow.

Why shouldn’t I just buy a big leaf cutting?

Something that not many customers realize is that when you buy a big leaf cutting and you grow it in less than optimal conditions e.g. indoors or in a cool climate, the next leaves will not continue to grow large, so in effect you are just buying a nice big leaf that will die off one day and leave you with a starter plant.

Can I add to the box to take advantage of Free Postage?

The free postage is calculated by weight, if you would like to add something small and light, like a free cutting, or a small unpotted plant, please contact us first at info@nursery2u.com.au
