Sustainability Summary
Nursery 2 U is a family‑owned Brisbane nursery with three generations of horticultural experience, committed to growing plants sustainably in real outdoor conditions. Our plants are raised without heating, cooling, grow lights, or artificial climate control — ensuring they are naturally resilient, climate‑appropriate, and ready to thrive in Australian homes and gardens.
We prioritise environmentally responsible practices at every stage. Growing outdoors allows us to observe how each species performs in real weather, helping us choose plants that thrive naturally and avoid any that show invasive potential. We use locally made potting mixes, Australian‑manufactured fertilizers, biodegradable propagation materials, and recyclable or compostable packaging. Most of our operational spending supports Australian small businesses.
Waste reduction is central to our process. We reuse pots, trays, propagation materials, and packing components. We regenerate plants through natural “dump piles,” which enrich soil, support biodiversity, and often produce new plants with minimal inputs. Our irrigation uses dam water and captured natural flow to reduce water waste.
Every plant is packed individually using a tailored method that reduces breakage, saves space, and lowers postage costs. We ship with Australia Post to avoid unnecessary double‑handling and reduce transport emissions.
We support biodiversity by propagating plants locally, avoiding wild‑harvesting, and removing any species that show invasive tendencies. We provide care sheets, propagation cuttings, and climate‑appropriate advice to help customers grow successfully and sustainably.
Our future goals include expanding biodegradable materials, introducing more pollinator‑friendly and multi‑purpose species, and continuing to improve our sustainability reporting.
